18th July 2008: Maserati today announced their ongoing support of the Sydney Symphony, becoming the official sponsor of "Gelmetti's Farewell". Acclaimed maestro Gianluigi Gelmetti was appointed Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Sydney Symphony in 2004 after conducting orchestras all over the world. Maserati's support will provide the ultimate swansong for the beloved maestro, following the success of Maserati's previous sponsorship of a Gelmetti concert in 2005.
The two concerts, held on the 19th and 20th of September at the iconic Sydney Opera House will see Gianluigi Gelmetti's last days as the Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Sydney Symphony after five successful years.
Rory Jeffes, the Director of External Relations at Sydney Symphony says, "We are delighted that an iconic Italian brand like Maserati will be our partner for these concerts. It is a perfect brand fit as both parties represent elegance and style, celebrating Italian heritage in the context of modern Sydney life."
Edward Butler, General Manager of Maserati says, "We are excited to join with the internationally-acclaimed Sydney Symphony for the farewell of a well-loved Italian musician. We hope to continue our partnership with the Sydney Symphony into the future."
Maserati's contribution will enable their VIP guests to meet the Maestro and his musicians at an exclusive post-concert reception. Gianluigi Gelmetti and his musicians will then depart for their eight-city tour of Italy.
