23/01/2011 - Italy
Maserati has announced its 2011 ‘Master Maserati’ driving school programme and, for the first time, it includes a new course in which the legendary Italian car maker puts customers behind the wheel of its racing cars for a unique two day driving course.

“With the addition of the Master Maserati MC Trofeo driving course, we are now able to offer the experience and training right across the full Maserati driving spectrum,” explains Glen Sealey, General Manager of Maserati Australia and New Zealand. “Maserati now offer courses for owners who are new to Maserati ownership and wish to hone their driving skills so that they may fully enjoy the excitement and pleasure of supercar ownership. There are then three different courses aimed at developing and enhancing driving skills up to the highest level, the Master High Performance Course, for road cars. New for 2011, the Master MC Trofeo course is more than just an experience of what it’s like to get behind the wheel of racing car. It includes lessons from experts in racing techniques and skills for drivers contemplating taking their love of performance driving to the level of full competition or for drivers who want a deeper understanding of what is happening when they are watching motorsport. Either way, the Maserati Master MC Trofeo course is a unique and unforgettable experience.”

All Master Maserati Driving courses take place at the demanding and highly technical Varano de Melegari race track near the famous northern Italian city of Parma under the guidance of drivers drawn from Formula One, the World Rally Championship, Indycar and European touring car championships. During the course participants drive the Maserati Quattroporte in S and Sport GTS variants as well as the range topping Maserati GranTurismo S. In addition, the MC Trofeo course uses the MC Trofeo racing cars based on the Maserati GranTurismo. All the cars are fully equipped with data acquisition and telemetry systems so that each driver’s performance may be examined in detail, allowing careful and accurate refinement of skills learnt during the course.

The 2011 Maserati Master programme opens with a single day course that enables owners and participants to learn more about the capabilities of the Maserati range and learn skills and techniques that are relevant to the day to day use of Maserati supercars, as well demonstrating the breadth and depth of abilities offered by the range.

The Master GT course takes the skills and techniques that are learnt in the single day course and over the duration of the two day course expands and extends these skills and provides personalized skill targeting programmes for each of the course participants.

The Master High Performance Course, another two day programme, is the course for owners looking for the ultimate training for road cars, whether they are using them on the road or at track days. The training sessions include advanced and complex driving techniques that maximize on-track performance. The programme is highly specialized to the individual needs of each participant in the course.

Designed to be a thrilling and unforgettable experience, as well as an introduction to the skills required for the intense experience of driving a racing car in competition, the Master MC Trofeo uses the MC Trofeo racing cars now in use in championships across Europe and based on the Maserati GranTurismo S. In addition to teaching the specific skills required to driving racing cars and how they respond differently from road cars, the course also provides an introduction to driving in a racing environment where there has to be a balance between extracting maximum amount of performance from the car with being in the right position to overtake other cars and defend your position on the track during the cut and thrust of a car race.

Prices for the Master Maserati driving courses range from Euro 2,150 for the introductory course to Euro 4,400 for the MC Trofeo course, not including transport to and from Europe, and may be booked through Maserati dealers in Australia and New Zealand.
